Multi-State Healthcare Paging System Update
A health care organization in the American Midwest offers multi-state clinical health services with over 50 locations and 1,000 providers across the US. They have several radio communication requirements for reaching doctors and other support staff outside of their normal work locations. After many years of operation, their aged paging infrastructure was in need of replacement. Although the healthcare organization had already engaged another vendor to help them replace their infrastructure, they were unable to complete the successful solution. The customer also wished to retain their existing paging link hub site, which meant any new solution would have to interoperate with the hub site.
Working within the parameters given by the customer, Codan designed a cost-effective and comprehensive solution which replaced their existing network, while expanding coverage and allowed for a phase replacement of their existing infrastructure. Codan was also able to accommodate matching specifications of legacy transmitters to the new transmitters, for seamlessly phasing replacements.
After working with the customer to outline the requirements and capabilities of their system, we worked with three existing sites and developed a plan to migrate all paging stations in the system. Codan deployed the first sites and trained local users to support the system over its lifecycle. Even though the customer needs were unique, we were able to design a solution to meet every requirement. Codan built tooling and provided application-specific documentation to meet this specialized solution.
We successfully designed and delivered a multi-site simulcast paging system. Codan was on-site for the deployment and commissioning of the system and new components, along with on-site optimization and acceptance testing. Being on-site also gave us the opportunity to provide training in person with the installed equipment.
